Women's Head of the River Race

WeHORR was a fantastic event for all crews representing UoNBC. Competing were two boats, one senior boat, starting 18th and one novice boat starting 316th.

The seniors put in a very strong performance to finish 27th. Starting in front of a tough Tideway Scullers crew, they managed to hold them off for the entirety of the course. There was also tough competition from Durham University’s first eight who pushed our girls from Barnes Bridge. Determined not to give up, they didn’t let Durham slip until after Hammersmith Bridge, more than five minutes of side by side racing on a tough course. Their position of 27th meant that they were the highest placed crew in the intermediate university category, a fantastic achievement and winning the Intermediate trophy.

The novices also had a fantastic race. After starting 316th they ended up 251st overall, overtaking two crews and gaining on a third. With a crew gaining on them in the final kilometer they managed to hold them off and finished roughly level when they crossed the line.

Overall it was a very successful day with both crews putting in exceptional rows to round off the women's head season and to finish on a high before they start the preparation for the summer regatta circuit.
