Our committee of 13 students are responsible for all aspects of running the Boat Club and are elected annually at the Club AGM
4th Year, Mechanical Engineering
Jonny joined the club in 2018 having coxed for 6 years at Abingdon School. In his first year at UoNBC, he joined the Performance Women’s Squad for a successful season including good performances at BUCS Head and Henley Women’s Regatta. He was selected for the W8+ for the World Rowing Universities Regatta, Xi’an, where the crew won Gold. From his 2nd year, he join the performance Men’s Squad and although disrupted by CoVID, has achieved success at BUCS Regatta in Intermediate 4+ and Henley Royal Regatta in the Temple Challenge Cup reaching the Thursday.
On the committee, Jonny held the position of Boatman for two years and the role of Vice President for one year before taking over the Presidency from Peter Boyes. He hopes to lead the club forward in a more normal year and bring the club forward in terms of results, inclusivity and sustainability.
4th Year, Secondary PGCE
Grace rowed at Henley Rowing Club prior to joining UoNBC in 2018 while studying her undergraduate degree in Biology. Her highlights at UoNBC include 4th at BUCS Regatta in Championship 4-, Gold at World Rowing Universities Regatta and being in the first women’s crew from Nottingham in 20 years to qualify for Henley Royal Regatta. Prior to holding the Vice President position, Grace was the Women’s Captain in the 2020-21 season and is a key figure in the performance women’s squad. During this year, she hopes to host our Annual Tiger Ball after a year of being unable to do so and to work with Alumni to organise more events.
2nd Year, Law
Liv began rowing at York City Rowing Club and has since progressed to being one of the top Athletes in the Performance Women’s Squad. Liv is looking forward to getting our athletes back to racing throughout the country this year.
2nd Year, Mechanical Engineering
James began his rowing Career at Henley Rowing Club, joining UoNBC’s lightweight squad in 2020. In his first year he was selected into our top lightweight 4x and 2x placing 4th and 6th respectively at BUCS Regatta before heading to HRR qualifiers in a open weight 2x. Although beaten by ex-Olympians at qualifiers, James has returned to enjoy a full season of racing including GB trials.
3rd Year, Medicine
George began rowing at Hampton before taking his gap year at Thames Rowing Club. During his first year at UoNBC, George was part of the lightweight squad before moving to heavyweight during his 2nd Year getting to the Thursday at HRR in the Temple Challenge Cup and placing 5th in Intermediate 4+ and BUCS Regatta.
